Hancocks has expanded its flagship Manchester site to more than 30,000sq ft.
The Manchester depot grew from 27,000sq ft when an internal wall was removed to allow for some of the warehouse to be included in the sales space. The lighting has been upgraded, signage improved, floor refurbished and promotional displays expanded offering a more effective trading space.
Over pound;100,000 has been spent already on the improvements with plans for more to come.
Andrew Hancock, CEO of Hancocks, said: “We have reviewed a good number of our cash and carries, reorganising layout and even taking out walls in order to increase the amount of space given to the sales area. In both Manchester and Glasgow, this has meant that we can now achieve much more prominent pallet displays for example, resulting in even better availability of key products and offers for our customers.”
Improvements have been made in Manchester, Glasgow, Preston and Coventry. The Stoke and Portsmouth sites have both been highlighted for improvements or a site movement if a suitable site can be found in the same catchment. The Sheffield site is to receive some internal improvements and Hull is to receive a complete refit along with some recently acquired additional space to the sales area.
Hancock added: “The review of our existing depots is important to ensure that we offer our customers the best service, range and availability that we can from the space that we have. Initial response from customers has been very positive.”
