Who is winning the battle for convenience shoppers’ Features > Business, and why, are two of the questions David Glennon, marketing manager of ACNeilsen, will be tackling, using data from its Scantrack service.
As the multiples continue to encroach into the territory which has traditionally been served by the independent retail sector, Glennon will reveal the impact the newcomers are having on the market. Scantrack covers all outlets under 3,000sq ft, using EPOS data from 6,000 sample stores to provide information on a sector with sales of pound;24bn. He will be looking at some of the growth areas and comparing the performance of the multiple c-stores and independents.
He will also be looking at ACNielsen’s Homescan data, which covers types of shoppers, their product purchases from c-stores and what kind of convenience products they favour.
