Simon Harrison has been with the same company for 19 years as it developed through takeovers and mergers from Whitbread to AB InBev.

He began in sales to the cash and carry sector and had a number of other sales roles before becoming sales director for the wholesale and convenience channel in 2007 and being appointed to the board in 2008.

He will be looking at the opportunities that the current economic climate offers for the convenience channel, and the disciplines and investment that is required in the sector.

He will also be examining the campaigning that has taken place around duty fraud with close co-operation between the brewers and the FWD in their political engagement to get Government action.

And he will be looking at examples of corporate social responsibility and how they relate back to the wholesale sector and the local shops it serves.
