Chris Etherington joined Palmer and Harvey in June 2006 as chief executive with more than 30 years experience in wholesale and retail distribution, following a position as managing director of the national after-market wholesaler Unipart Automotive.

Prior to that he was managing director for UK and executive director for northern Europe of the FTSE 100 company Alliance UniChem.

He held several senior positions in the company before being promoted to the board in 1997 after a period at Harvard Business School.

Palmer and Harvey has a strong heritage in traditional convenience store categories such as tobacco, confectionery, soft drinks, crisps and snacks, and in his presentation to the conference he will examine where the growth potential in the impulse sector lies and offer insights into the wholesale market, its performance and trends.
