The Federation of Wholesale Distributors this week welcomed the Chancellor’s announcement of a freeze in fuel duty as a boost for small businesses.
“This is good news for the distributive trade and the hundreds of thousands of SMEs who rely on FWD members to deliver their stock,” said FWD chief executive James Bielby. “By cancelling the fuel duty rise due in January, the Chancellor has recognised the need to keep costs of distribution down and help these small businesses provide vital services and employment in communities across the country.”
FWD members support more than one million small retail and foodservice businesses through direct distribution and cash amp; carry depots. As well as delivering products they provide business advice, merchandising help and credit facilities for shops, restaurants, pubs and caterers.
