James Ward has left Blueheath to concentrate on developing the cash and carry business owned by his family.
Ward joined Blueheath as a director when it took over the delivered business of AC Ward Son last year, but he has now left to run the cash and carry business at Sudbury in Suffolk.
It has been renamed Forward Wholesale Foods and Ward said the chilled, frozen and licensed ranges were all being improved.
There will also be an increase in the non food offer including items such as TVs, microwaves and kettles.
The 18,000sq ft depot has about 700 active customers who are a mixture of retailers and caterers. The business has a single 7.5 tonne delivery lorry, but Ward said he did not intend to develop this part of the business.
Ward said he believed there was a niche for smaller cash and carries of about 10,000sq ft serving rural communities, but he would concentrate on the Sudbury business before considering any expansion opportunities.
