LW spokesman Omar Saeed told Wholesale News that filming took place at the Barking depot last October when Lord Sugar visited the depot with head honchos Nick Hewer and Karren Brady (pictured below with warehouse manager Ricardo Berenger). All members of staff were sworn to secrecy.
The episode saw the two groups of contestants choosing from a range of 150 products selected by London Wholesale in a bid to make as much profit as possible from an initial £150 investment by re-selling their goods to the citizens of Essex.
“The best-selling items chosen by the contestants were fake tan, which they bought for 99p a bottle and sold in Essex for £9.99 a bottle and was so popular we sold out,” said Omar. “Insect Toys, which were bought from us for 69p a pack and sold by the teams for £4.99 per pack, were also very popular.”
The winning team, led by Boris Johnson lookalike Nick Holzherr, made a profit of almost £1,000 by concentrating on a small range of best-sellers.
