Equifax reports 2006 failures

According to the 2006 Equifax Business Failures Report, increased competition online has added to the eroding margins and made life hard in the wholesale sector.

Credit information specialist Equifax said these were probably factors that contributed to a nearly 5% increase in business failures across the year.

It reports that there has been a rise in shoppers’ online spending, with offers from the more aggressive supermarkets continuing to put pressure on the independents and smaller retailers.
