Drinks duty fraud takes its toll

Landmark Wholesale has reported a cumulative sales rise of 9.4% from May to October compared to the same period last year.

Cigarette and tobacco sales remained strong and increased by 8.6% with grocery also up by 13.2%. Landmark reported that licensed sales were still feeling the impact of duty fraud -2.4% down, but still is an improvement on September 2012 figures.

Own brand sales also continued to perform well showing a 10% increase during October versus the same period in 2011.

Martin Williams, Landmark managing director (pictured) said. “Our strong performance has been helped by the positive impact and excellent trading results from all of our members including our newer ones. Overall the group is performing exceedingly well.”
