Dhamecha has opened in Birmingham, its second cash and carry in the Midlands and its ninth altogether.
The Today’s Group member, based in north London and the capital’s largest independent cash and carry group, opened its first depot outside of the M25, in Leicester, in 2015. It offers a range of more than 12,000 branded grocery products.
The new Birmingham depot, in the Smethwick area of the city, will be managed by former Leicester outlet general manager Richard Elphick, who will take responsibility for approximately 60 staff. Stepping in at Leicester is Siddarth Jani, a Dhamecha employee for the past 10 years.
Chief Executive, Pradip Dhamecha said: “Following the success of the Leicester branch, we are delighted to be expanding our Midlands base into Birmingham and to be employing 60 staff in the area. Our team joined us over 2 months ago and they have spent the last few weeks being trained in the Leicester branch; ready for the opening of Birmingham…As well as the brilliant contribution from our new and existing Dhamecha staff, I would also like to give a big thank you to our hundreds of loyal suppliers for their incredible support in the build-up to the opening.
“Over the last 40 years, we have built a reputation with our customers for good service, speed, competitive long-term pricing and excellent stock availability – and we look forward to developing close relationships with the retailers and caterers in the Birmingham area.”
