Dhamecha Group has revealed plans to open its 7th branch. It will be in south-east London at Lewisham.
The Today’s Group member currently operates six cash and carry branches around the M25 area in London and has a customer base of more than 12,000 independent convenience stores.
Chief executive Pradip Dhamecha said: “We are delighted to announce this latest addition to our portfolio of cash and carries. Since opening our 6th branch at Hayes in 2010, we now employ more than 500 people – welcome news in these challenging, economic times.
“We are planning to launch the 70,000sq ft purpose built branch later this year. It will not only provide a convenient location for retailers to collect their groceries, impulse products, beers, wines and spirits, but also generate significant full and part-time employment opportunities in the south London area.”
Bill Laird, managing director of Today’s Group said: “We are delighted to learn of this latest development from our largest member. In a tough economic climate it is excellent news to start the year with and once again underlines the significant opportunities that exist in the independent sector for Today’s Group wholesalers.”
