Demand for NID T-shirts is outstripping supplies

The must-have T-shirt for National Independents’ Day on June l is a historic first for the industry.

The front of the T-shirt features the main theme of the campaign “My Shop Is Your Shop, Local And Proud Of It”.

The 10 big brands that are supporting the NID money-off coupon feature, which will be published in the May 26 editions of the Daily Mirror and Daily Record (Scotland), appear on the reverse of the garment.

The T-shirts have been designed by IMA Group, one of the members of the PR Action Group (PRAG) driving the campaign, and are destined to become a collectors’ item sought after by grocery trade memorabilia enthusiasts.

MSYS chairman Alan Toft said: “This is a typical example of the creativity of PRAG and IMA. Demand for the T-shirt from retailers is already outstripping supply – it will have to be first come first served.”

The money-off coupons are redeemable at independent retailers only. This year’s total of 10 brands in the promotion is three more than in 2005.
