A host of businesses that go the extra mile for their foodservice customers were recognised last week (December 3) at the Country Range Group’s annual supplier awards, held at the Crypts in London’s Guildhall.
Guests – including former Business Secretary Sir Vince Cable – acknowledged that yet again the Country Range Group had sourced an excellent, unique venue following on from the 2014 event held at the Tower of London.
After an address in the Livery Hall from Sir Vince, the 160 suppliers and representatives from the buying group’s 13 member wholesalers from across the UK were ushered into the East Crypt to be wined and dined, before the award ceremony.
Unilever Foodsolutions won both the Branded Supplier of the Year and also the Business Relationship Award for having a proactive attitude, ability to make key decisions and resolve queries and issues. Single Source was awarded the Own Brand Supplier of the Year.
The Service Performance Award, recognising a supplier who has shown the best service performance measured on delivery and admin accuracy, went to bacon specialist A1 Bacon, who also scooped the Newcomer of the Year.
Nestlé Foodservice also had a successful night, picked up the award for Marketing Excellence for executing a creative, dynamic marketing programme in support of their brands to drive category growth within the group. For all round great service, Frozen Supplier of the Year went to Meadow Vale Foods.
A Special Award for outstanding service to the Country Range Group was awarded to Mike Watson, in recognition of his achievements and dedication in his capacity as Group trading director for the last 22 years.
Coral Rose, managing director of Country Range Group, said the supplier awards focused on performance over key business areas over the last 12 months and were voted for by all of the group’s independent wholesale members.
A raffle was also held at the awards in aid of charity The Silver Line, raising £3,520.
