Confex reports sales up 12%

Confex has reported one of its best trading years since its inception in 1972.

It said that group turnover was up 12% in 2008, following +10% in 2007, and it has also received encouraging trading results for the first quarter of this year.

Barry Parish, business development director of Confex, said: “These results are excellent and give us confidence that we can continue to help members maintain profitability through 2009 and strengthen our position for long-term growth.”

According to Confex, the improved performance is due to a change in business strategy and the way Confex is working with its official suppliers. It is working on offering more bespoke activity, incentives and targeted promotions.

Its membership also grew in 2008 to 327, increasing to 335 in the first quarter of 2009.
