Brakes has announced it has won a contract to supply and distribute frozen foods to local authorities throughout Scotland.
The three year contract covers bakery, poultry, fish, meat and vegetables and takes into account the Hungry for Success school meals initiative and the Nutrition Act (Scotland) 2008. It will cover a range of services within local authorities including education, social work and civic catering. The total spend forecast is £45m over three years.
The contract was awarded following a staged tendering process and thorough evaluation by Scotland Excel, the Centre of Expertise for local government procurement in Scotland.
