Brakes is highlighting its environmental and corporate social responsibility to customers in a new brochure and web-based CSR area.
The brochure, Our Environmental Social Responsibility, highlights Brakes commitment to reducing its impact on the environment in areas such as energy consumption, fuel usage, recycling, ethical trading, sustainability and traceability.
Frank McKay, group chief executive of Brakes, said: “It is important to demonstrate to our customers, the communities in which we operate and our industry the responsible manner in which we go about a daily business.
“We have developed this brochure and web-based site to give those who wish to know about our business a greater insight into how we do things.”
Some of the programmes highlighted include: roll-out of biodiesel into Brakes’ fleet; removal of hydrogenated vegetables oils (HVOs) from Brakes’ own brand products; a target to recycle 30% of all waste materials by the end of 2007 and giving support to hospitality industry.
