Booker is trialling a range of depot formats at six sites and is preparing to launch a new internet service.
Examples of the new formats include the Luton depot, which is trading as Booker Wholesale Club and St Pancras, trading as Booker Wholesale.
They feature orange livery and enhanced lighting, intended to make them much brighter, improved signage and a wider non food range.
The company is also continuing to operate depots it acquired last year at Cheltenham and Shrewsbury as Hub Wholesale Club.
Chief executive Charles Wilson said trials of the new formats were at an early stage and would not say whether more were planned.
He also revealed that new internet services were now being tested by a number of customers.
Wilson said he hoped to be able to roll out the new service in the new year, but he did not want to give precise details at this stage.
