Booker revamps website

Booker chief executive Charles Wilson has revealed that the company will be redeveloping its website in the next few months, and described the current one as “rubbish”.
Speaking at the IGD Annual Convention, Wilson said he wanted to introduce more services for customers on the website as part of the company’s commitment to “broaden” its offering.
He said the current website was still the same one he had helped to design when he was previously with the company, and described it as “a vintage 2000 website”.
A low cost delivery option using Premier branded delivery vans will also be rolled out, he said.
Another development will harness the latest mobile phone technology to communicate with customers and Wilson commented: “Our customers love mobile phones.”
The Booker Wholesale Club concept is also being rolled out to more depots following its success at Luton.
The low cost refit to improve signage, layout and lighting, and to introduce a new range of non-food products, had been a success, said Wilson.
“It has been rolled out to five further depots and we intend to continue testing and rolling it out,” he said.
