Booker has revealed it is now selling more than 350,000 pints of lager, beer and cider a week in keg sales, the equivalent of 18 million pints a year to the on-trade.
Over 4,000 kegs are being sold nationally as more and more licensee’s are using Booker as a top-up service, said Ron Hickey, sales director – catering.
Brands such as Guinness, Carling, John Smiths, Foster’s and Strongbow are all available in 11 gallon kegs and have continued to grow in popularity.
“Customers can rely on Booker with availability of kegs over the summer months,” said Hickey.
“Forecasting demand is very dependent on the weather, so Booker can help licensees when the sun shines or when they receive an unexpected party booking.
“We are finding this is particularly helpful over the weekend, where customers can simply come in and top up or ring and reserve their keg order for collection.”
