Booker prepares retailers for surge in sales

Booker will be launching a D-Day campaign aimed at helping its customers to maximise their sales when the tobacco display ban comes into effect in larger stores on April 6.

It will be kicking off its D-Day campaign with in-branch customer conferences starting on January 16th and lasting for a week. Two more week-long events will then take place from February 6th and March 12th.

Two presentations will be held every day, during these weeks, at 10am and 2pm in every Booker branch. Retailers will be able to pick up their copy of the ‘5 Steps to Great Retailing’ guide which provides them with advice and help to ensure they are giving their shoppers a great shopping experience.

“D-Day is the biggest opportunity since the national lottery,” said Steve Fox, sales director – retail. “We estimate that an extra two million shoppers each week could transfer to independent retailers; bringing with them an extra £1bn of sales. This could result in £140m in extra profits for small stores.

“The ‘5 Steps to Great Retailing’ guide is intended for retailers to walk their store to help them understand what opportunities exist and how they can take advantage of it. I would strongly encourage independent retailers to go to one of these conferences. Everyone is welcome and can contact their local Booker branch for more details.”
