AF Blakemore’s Heart Distribution division has been rebranded as Blakemore Fine Foods and has also been recognised with a prestigious national “responsible business” award.
Heart is now officially be known as Blakemore Fine Foods (BFF) to “better reflect the company’s increased geographical reach and evolution since it was launched in 2007″.
The rebrand coincides with the company winning a prestigious national award for the work it has undertaken to support small and medium sized food and drink producers.
The division’s Producer Growth Scheme was named as overall winners in the ASDA Enterprise Growth category at the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards 2014 earlier this month. The ceremony took place at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in the presence of Princes Charles, William and Harry.
BFF was recognised for helping local producers overcome logistical and business challenges through providing a cost effective route to market, increased support in business to business sales and infrastructure support, as well as assistance in developing sustainable long term business strategies.
In addition to this the wider AF Blakemore Group and Blakemore Logistics were recognised with Business in the Community Big Ticks and shortlisted for the overall category winner in the Education and Sustainable Products and Services categories respectively.
BFF’s commercial manager, Caoire Blakemore said: “We are delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious award at such a symbolic moment in the company’s evolution.
“This recognition is testament to the hard work of the team and that of our colleagues across Blakemore Logistics, Foodservice and the wider business in addition to the support we receive from our customers and suppliers.
“I am also delighted that the wider Blakemore Group has once again demonstrated its commitment to responsible business through the recognition that the company received in the Education and Sustainable Products amp; Services categories.”
Business in the Community chief executive, Stephen Howard added: “All year round, responsible businesses across the UK are contributing towards more resilient communities, stimulating local economies, creating diverse, skills and healthy workforces and addressing skills shortages- yet these activities rarely get attention.
“The Responsible Business Awards shine a much needed spotlight on the powerful impact of business. Each of the companies recognised are playing their part to build a new contract between business and society and a more sustainable future for us all. I congratulate AF Blakemore amp; Son Ltd for its Big Ticks, which is a powerful symbol of business doing more to bring about change.”
