Blakemore wins recognition for its community spirit

A F Blakemore has scooped the Community Champion crown at the Express amp; Star Awards for its commitment to supporting schools and community groups through its employee volunteering programme.

Officially launched in 2008, the programme has impacted the lives of almost 43,000 people via 322 community groups across the West Midlands. It aims to support the communities it serves by focussing on three key themes; education, enterprise and employability and a total of 380 activities have taken place ranging from practice interviews, enterprise events, regeneration projects, mentoring, reading and numeracy partnerships to our annual flagship events such as Road Safety Week, the Environmental Challenge and the Junior Football Competition.
Corporate affairs officer, Clare Knowles said: “We are thrilled to be recognised as Community Champion in the West Midlands. We have an army of loyal and passionate volunteers across our business who support our programme so this would not have been possible without their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm to make a difference in their communities.”
