Blakemore corporate responsibility strategy

Blakemore Wholesale, part of AF Blakemore, has identified responsible business practice as a key strategy for future growth and released its first Corporate Responsibility Review.

The document highlights the corporate responsibility work undertaken by Blakemore Wholesale, Blakemore Fresh Foods and Blakemore Food Service and sets targets for the future.

Blakemore Wholesale managing director Sam Wilcox said: “When we talk about corporate responsibility we are referring to the ways in which AF Blakemore impacts four stakeholder groups. We define these as the marketplace, the environment, the workplace and the community. Corporate responsibility is therefore about looking after our staff, customers, the environment and the community.”

Wilcox said concentrating on corporate responsibility could directly improve profits.

“Environmental initiatives can help us save money. Our marketplace targets can help us attract customers and workplace projects are aimed at improving the skills and morale of our workforce.

“Our increasing focus on community work can only enhance Blakemore Wholesale’s reputation and help make us a preferred company of choice for customers, suppliers and employees.”
