Bidvest Logistics wins £86m contract

Bidvest Logistics has won a three-year contract extension worth approximately £86m to supply a multi-temperature range of food to the Gondola Group’s restaurant chains. The deal, which is effective from July 2012, follows a three-month tendering process which involving several foodservice suppliers.

Bidvest Logistics will continue to supply the Gondola Group with dry, frozen and chilled products.

The Gondola Group serves almost 40 million meals a year in more than 600 restaurants under the Pizza Express, Zizzi, Ask, Byron and Kettner’s names, and employs approximately 16,500 people.

Henry Godber, Bidvest Logistics’ drector of supply chain excellence, said: “Bidvest Logistics is delighted to have won this major account following a rigorous tendering process. The Gondola Group was looking for a supplier that could prove service excellence, outstanding pricing, dedication to customer service and a thorough understanding of their individual business requirements, and Bidvest Logistics clearly demonstrated each of these qualities.”

Gondola Group’s head of supply chain, Andy Milner, commented: “We are very happy to continue working with Bidvest Logistics for the next three years as we firmly believe that their flexibility, quality of service offered and planned investments will only serve to enhance what is already an efficient and effective distribution supply chain for our restaurants.”
