Bestway founder wins award

Sir Anwar Pervez, founder of the Bestway Group, was named Master Entrepreneur of the year at the National Awards Ceremony in London. He had already won the award for top Entrepreneur of the London region earlier this year.
The Master Entrepreneur Of The Year award recognises individuals who have made a sustained contribution to the success of one or more businesses over a period of more than ten years.
Richard Hall, UK markets’ leader at Ernst Young, which staged the awards with the FT, said: “The award recognises Sir Anwar’s formidable business experience which has not only seen him build Bestway from a single corner shop to a chain of cash and carry stores that spans the country, but he has also diversified his business into new territories.”
Lord Young, chairman of the judges panel, said: “Sir Anwar is a pioneer who has taken risks to develop businesses outside of his original focus industry in the developing world.”
