Bestway Wholesale is promoting Buddies, its exclusive label of kids’ confectionery and drinks, throughout March with a “tailored, margin-enhanced” price promotion.
The new price promotion offers retailers a 50% PoR across both ranges. The confectionery range and cup drinks are priced as “pocket money offerings” with a one-coin price point of 1p, 5p or 10p. The bottled drinks range is priced at 30p per 330ml bottle.
Nick Brown, category manager for own-label at Bestway says: “Kids’ confectionery is a key category for independent retailers. Children use their local stores more than any other consumer group and while basket spend will never be astronomical, profits can be. With the Buddies promotion throughout March, for every £1 spend on children’s lines retailers can make between 50-60% pure profit. Compare that to other confectionery or soft drinks sectors and you can see the potential for stocking a good kids’ range.
“In addition, children generally will forego receiving change and will prefer to spend any remaining monies on treats for immediate consumption. Placing a few Buddies tubs across various price points next to the till will ensure that retailers benefit for impulse purchases.”
The month-long promotion will see all lines deliver over 50% POR for retailers. In confectionery the range of 1p, 5p and 10p lines, which are all halal certified, will sell at £2.49 – while the drinks range of 330ml bottles will have the normal wholesale price slashed by 20% to £1.39 for 12 bottles. Completing the promotion is the 10p range of cup dinks which will be available at only 99p for 24 units.
