Bestway appoints new category manager for wines

Bestway Group is aiming to bolster its licensed category management team with the appointment of a dedicated resource for the wine category. Bill Creighton has been recruited as the Group’s first-ever category manager for wines and has already taken up his role at Bestway HQ in Park Royal, London.

Bill has extensive experience in the licensed sector, having worked for convenience chain McColls as wine and spirits buyer; he also has a wealth of knowledge in C amp;C as he was the buyer of wine, beer and spirits during a four and a half year stint at Dhamecha.

“Wine is a category that offers real growth potential for Bestway and Batleys’ customers and I believe it’s a great time to be joining the group,” says Bill. “In convenience, retailers are realising that premium wines are the way forward but many still need a little support on ranging and promotions. In catering and foodservice I will be looking to add value to our current offering in wines. Above all, I will be working hard with suppliers to ensure that we put a plan in place to help maximise our customers’ wine sales and drive further growth in the category.”

Martin Race, group trading director, adds: “I would like to welcome Bill to the team at Bestway Batleys. Wine is a huge category and requires specialist category knowledge. The addition of Bill to the licensed team will enable the group to focus and develop a category that offers fantastic opportunities for growth. I am pleased that when other groups are downsizing, we, as a company, are placing more emphasis on getting the right people in place to develop the business.”
