Appleby Westward makes two new senior appointments

Appleby Westward, the Saltash-based regional wholesaler for Spar stores in the South West, has announced two new senior appointments.

Rob Sharman (below) joins the company as finance and IT director from Countrywide Farmers, where he was Head of Finance, and Joanna Hunt (above) has been appointed head of trading for ambient goods.

Rob, a graduate of Portsmouth University, replaces Tony Gummow, who is retiring from the company after 30 years service.  Prior to working for Countrywide Farmers, he held a number of financial and commercial positions with major companies including Motorola Inc and Wolseley plc

Married with twin daughters and a son, he lives in Gorran Haven near St. Austell and enjoys mountain biking, kayaking and surfing.

Joanna, who lives in Plymouth where she was born and went to school, also has twin daughters and is a graduate of Reading University.  She has spent over 20 years working for a number of the country’s leading retailers including Tesco, for whom she worked overseas, primarily in the Far East and Central Europe.

She has worked across a wide range of food and non-food buying categories and has joined Appleby Westward after working as an independent consultant on buying and project management for manufacturing and retail companies throughout Europe.
