3663 has won a £60m, three-year contract with SSP UK, the specialist company operating food concessions at airports and railways stations, to become its foodservice provider.
Over the period, 3663 will supply more than six million frozen, chilled, dairy and ambient products to SSP’s bars, restaurants and cafes across train stations and airports, which include Upper Crust, Cafe Ritazza, The Pasty Shop, Camden Food Co and Pumpkin. The contract win came after a competitive tender process.
Earlier this year, 3663 also won the business for SSP’s sister company, Rail Gourmet, a contract worth approximately £10m per annum.
Greg Woodland, from SSP said: “Throughout the tender process 3663 showed commitment, integrity and innovation. We built strong relationships with 3663 over the interim trading period when DBC collapsed and during the subsequent tender process we felt there was a genuine culture fit between our two businesses. Most importantly 3663 were able to meet the diverse needs of our business which operates in high profile travel locations.”
SSP said it was particularly impressed by the added value resulting from a consolidated supply, a reduction in road miles to reduce fuel costs and emissions, and the multi-temperature vehicles the business supplies to control energy use. Additionally, 3663 will provide SSP with a dedicated management team, with expertise in sustainable sourcing and local provenance to help showcase SSP’s “Best of British” menu options.
Andy Kemp, group sales director at 3663 said: “This new contract win is testimony to how closely we understand and work with our customers. We’re proud that we’re not only delivering quality food at a good price but that our business improvements and innovations are responding to our customers’ needs. Having built a solid groundwork with SSP, we’re looking forward to continuing with this profitable contract into 2013.”
