At FWD we believe that understanding the needs of each link in the supply chain, and the pressures under which they operate, is absolutely key to delivering the best possible service to retail and foodservice customers, and through them to consumers. Co-operation in distribution, including products tailored to suit the channel, efficiencies in delivery and packaging, communication of promotions and range extensions, and clear, long-term plans, forms the basis of success in this channel.
We launched the FWD Wholesale Market Report in 2016 to provide a single point of intelligence and opinion on the channel in the year ahead. By inviting wholesalers, suppliers, insight providers and our customer businesses to contribute their plans and expectations for the next twelve months, we have created a shared handbook for the entire supply chain. For suppliers, it is an opportunity to reveal your new launches and promotional plans to FWD’s wholesaler members, and advise them on how best to engage retailers and caterers through cash and carry, telesales or online. It also gives you insight into the wholesaler’s own plans to assist the 400,000 customer businesses they collectively supply and support, and help them make the best range decisions for their shelves and menus. It introduces new suppliers, or new members of your team, to our members, explaining their size and specialisms and advising, in their own words, on the best engagement strategies to maximise growth with each of them.
The Report also looks at the economic, legislative and social trends that we need to take into account while planning and delivering joint strategies for mutual profit. It is a massively useful document which will, I hope, sit on the desks of Wholesale News’ 4500 readers throughout the year, providing a well-thumbed resource on each facet of a vibrant industry which is working together to grow together.
