United spends pound;80,000 on new system

United Wholesale Grocers, the cash and carry Landmark member based in Glasgow, has chosen to upgrade its point of sale system and implement a new merchandise management solution with STL.

The pound;80,000 deal has seen a new tilling system with central cash functionality implemented across the estate. Mohammed Ramzan Pervais, managing director of United Wholesale Grocers, said: “We feel it is important to implement new technology that will enable us to take United forward over the next five years and we can now confidently invest in software that is modern and provides functionality specific to our wholesale business.”

The STL merchandise management solution will be implemented as a phase two project, delivering a central, browser-based application capable of running the whole company across multiple sites. The STL solution is based on an SQL database and runs on a Windows 2003 operating system.

Ivan Durkin, managing director of STL, said: “We are delighted to have won this significant piece of business and maintain our relationship with United Wholesale Grocers who are a progressive organisation.”
