Hub Wholesale Club of Cheltenham, the new cash and carry wholesaler dedicated solely to caterers, has installed an IT system from STL to control its EPOS and supply chain.
Tony Overton, managing director, said: “The functionally rich nature of the STL products, the fit to our business needs, and STL’s professional and flexible approach helped to convince us that we were selecting the right solution.”
He explained customer satisfaction was crucial to the success of the new Features > Business, and so understanding customers’ needs was fundamental. To this end the management knew that the system they installed needed to be able to help them understand customer profiles and product profitability.
When Hub went to the market to select a system they found many did not provide the level of customer information required to provide the detailed management reports they needed. Three solution providers were short-listed, ultimately resulting in STL being awarded the business.
The system they chose includes STL’s 32-bit Wholesale Tills, Microsoft .NET merchandise management system as well as hand-held terminals (right) for stock-taking, goods inwards and price checking.
Hub is also making use of STL’s text messaging service. It enables Hub to send texts to customers to alert them about promotions and new product launches. The service can be run on all main UK networks via secure and confidential databases.
Expansion plans for Hub Wholesale Club are already in the pipeline and Overton said the STL system would be installed in future depots.
He said: “STL’s support is first class. Whatever was needed to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation was provided without question. We look forward to a very good working relationship with STL in the future.”
