Food and grocery supply chain specialist Baylis Logistics has taken delivery of 56 new vehicles from MAN-ERF UK.
They comprise 38 MAN tractor units, and 18 MAN rigid trucks. The new trucks are fitted with tail lifts and can carry loads of up to 26 tonnes, compared with the previous maximun of 18 tonnes.
Baylis said the new vehicles would provide greater versatility when handling customers’ requirements and create additional distribution flexibility. Baylis is also investing in 87 new trailers, which feature double-deck frames to provide increased volume.
The increased capacity is intended to reduce movements and improve efficiency through the network.
Thomas van Mourik, managing director at Baylis Logistics, commented: “The new vehicles will play a significant part in our commitment to provide a high quality supply chain for all our customers.”
