Parfetts Cash Carry has installed ATM machines at its Aintree depot and at its newest depot which recently opened in Sheffield.
The move follows the successful introduction of a cashpoint at its Stockport depot just over a year ago, which was believed to be the first cash and carry to install an ATM on site.
All three cash machines have been provided through a deal with Alliance Leicester bank group.
“In the past customers who were new to the depot, or even established customers who were not aware of our systems, would arrive at the till, card in hand, only to be told it was cash or cheque only,” explained Roy Phillips, deputy general manager of the Aintree depot.
“This would, on occasion, lead to embarrassing situations, with customers having to leave their shopping while they went off to find the nearest handy cashpoint.
“Now we can simply point them in the direction of our own ATM, which is a much better situation.”
The ATM is proving to be a popular addition to the Aintree depot with more than 500 transactions recorded in the opening two weeks.
Phillips added: “Staff and customers are making good use of the facility and it’s obvious that it is a welcome new service to add to our offering.”
