More than 300 delegates from different food and drinks brands have road-tested the latest i-beacon technology at Bestway Cash and Carry’s inaugural supplier event.
The event, at Ascot racecourse, saw senior executives from brands including Coca Cola, Red Bull, Nestle, Unilever and Walkers being given the opportunity to download a special event version of the Bestway purchasing app.
Developed by Leamington-based mobile communications company RNF Digital Innovation for Bestway, the trail version of the app interacted with the strategically placed i-beacon devices placed around Ascot racecourse.
An updated version of the app, featuring new location-based services functionality and a new video demo function, was launched on October 17, with the first i-beacons set to go into Bestway’s flagship Park Royal store at the end of the month
All customers using any of the 63 Bestway and Batleys depots across the UK are able to download the app now from the i-tunes store. It boasts varied features including detailed product information and price updates on up to 20,000 products, the ability to list and access favourite products and the use of a barcode scanner to enable quick processing of large orders.
There are also updates on deals, offers and multi-buy purchases, access to previous order history and the ability to drill down for information about specific products.
A new Android version of the app will be available from November and there will also be some further announcements about developments for the app by the end of the year.
