BCP has worked closely with the in-house IT team at James Hall to ensure a smooth transition of its Accord IT solution when the company moved to the new premises.
Testing was undertaken prior to the move to look out for problems with network connectivity and BCP developed special ‘warehouse move’ software to facilitate the move and to minimise disruption to normal operations.
This software allowed the new warehouse structure to be set up on the old system in advance of the move then programs cut over the new system area by area as stock was moved across.
Fail safe functionality was built in to enable dual operation or reversion to the old distribution centre (DC) in the event of problems, and a BCP specialist was resident at James Hall throughout the move to deal with any unexpected issues, but the process worked so that over the course of two days all stock and IT functions transferred seamlessly and the new DC was fully functional.
Dominic Hall, technical services director of James Hall, said: “BCP’s on-site representative was viewed by both ourselves and the users as an integral part of the move team and contributed significantly to the overall success we had in achieving the move in such a short space of time and to the success which we are now enjoying.”
