A new safety device could save depot operators thousands of pounds in liability cases, according to its inventor Paul Wilson.
His talking Kone, which warns staff and customers of hazards such as spillages, has just gone into volume producton.
It consists of a one-metre high yellow cone, which can give out up to eight customised safety warnings with adjustable volume.
The Kone, which is designed to withstand tough treatment, can be fixed in place with a 40Kg load suction unit and also has a movement detector alarm.
Wilson said the inspiration for the Kone came from personal experience when a relative successfully sued a shop after tripping down a step.
He pointed out: “If a sign talks to you, then there’s no excuse for not knowing that a hazard is there.”
