Today’s Group has appointed Francesca Sabin (pictured) as head of on-trade following the retirement of Steven Graham, it was announced yesterday.
Formerly a group buyer for North of England-based drinks wholesaler HB Clark, Francesca will be responsible for driving forward the on-trade division, which was set up in January 2014 when a number of on-trade wholesalers joined the Today’s Group.
The on-trade division now has 27 member wholesalers supplying 21,000 pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels across the UK.
Today’s Group MD Bill Laird said: “Following the demise of Waverley TBS in 2012 there are now few established routes to market for manufacturers, which is an unhealthy position for us all. We have created a new presence in the sector providing licensed outlets with a wider choice and range of services via our members, who collectively represent £500m.
“2015 is an exciting year for us and we already have a number of new initiatives in place and are working with both our members and our suppliers to ensure our offer to the trade is considerably better and more attractive,” he added.
Commenting on her appointment, Francesca Sabin said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting time. I look forward to working with our members and suppliers to drive the on-trade business forward. We are developing really interesting ideas in terms of how we can further support our on-trade members and their customers.”
Prior to joining Today’s, the outgoing Steve Graham was chief executive of the now defunct National Drinks Distributors (better known as NDD) for 15 years. “I am delighted that Francesca has joined the Today’s Group as head of on trade. Having taken great interest in my successor, and been involved in the recruitment process, I am convinced that the skills and experience that she has gained as group buyer for a major independent on-trade wholesaler and brewer, together with her excellent knowledge of the on-trade market, will enable her to further consolidate the business and drive the division forward,” said Graham.
