A.F. Blakemore company secretary and managing director of Capper amp; Co, Robert Upton, is retiring.
The news follows A.F. Blakemore’s recent appointments of Blakemore Wholesale finance director, Bill Tomlinson, to the position of company secretary and former Capper human resources manager, Ian Diment, to the role of HR director.
Upton joined Capper amp; Co in 1991 as company accountant before being promoted to finance director in 1994. In 2005 he became the first non-family member to become managing director of Capper amp; Co following the retirement of Bill Capper.
Blakemore’s group managing director Peter Blakemore thanked Robert for his loyal service to both Capper amp; Co and A.F. Blakemore and praised the solid foundations that he helped build to secure a successful future for the integrated business.
He added: “Over the past 18-months Robert has undertaken a number of crucial roles in addition to that of company secretary. These have included serving as chairman of the Group Integration Committee, representing the human resources department on the A.F. Blakemore board and leading essential integration projects relating to finance, IT and HR.
“Robert has been working towards retirement for a number of months now and has been gradually reducing his hours in preparation for this date. He now plans to pursue a wide range of interests outside of work.”
Robert will remain on both the Blakemore and Capper Pension Trustee Boards and will facilitate the harmonisation of these two schemes.
