Glasgow-based cash and carry business United Wholesale has expanded its trading and distribution teams following a 109% sales increase over the last two years.
Athif Sarwar, managing director of the company, a member of the Today’s Group, has made four appointments. Anshu Chandra, formerly buying director at Compass Cash Carry, has joined United’s trading team as licensed trading controller.
Chandra will work closely with newly promoted Ali Afsar, now trading controller for all food, non-food and tobacco, having worked as the buying controller for United for the past two years.
Additionally, William McHardy, previously manager of United’s Maxwell Road Cash Carry, has been appointed to a newly created role – business development and distribution manager – at United’s West Street Cash Carry, and will be responsible for Day-Today fascias, the Privileged Customer Club and customer deliveries.
Steven Shields moves from floor manager at United’s West Street Cash Carry, to fill McHardy’s previous role at Maxwell Road.
Athif Sarwar commented: “We have experienced a remarkable growth in sales over the past two years, which has allowed us to strengthen our trading team and introduce a new role responsible for managing our distribution process – something in which we are keen to invest in the future.”
