Former Budgens ambient trading controller Barry Williams has been appointed to head the newly integrated buying team at Musgrave Budgens-Londis.
His appointment follows the six month integration process of the Londis and Budgens buying teams following the purchase of Londis by Budgens’ parent company Musgrave, and the recent relocation of Budgens and Londis to new premises at Harefield.
As trading director Williams has restructured the trading department into three business units.
Each business unit will be managed by a head of buying, with Steve Carter taking responsibility for Fresh Foods. Kenton Lawton will head Staple Grocery and Non Food, and Impulse will be under John Taylor.
The restructure also sees the introduction of two category managers within each business unit who report to their head of buying. Category managers will look after all day-to-day aspects of their product groups, bringing increased focus to the operation. They will retain limited buying responsibilities.
Trading managers report in to their category manager and are now responsible for buying for both Budgens and Londis.
Williams said: “The new structure and roles are key to development of our business and will ensure that we provide the best possible service.”
