Local given prominence at Pro-retail

Pro-retail visitors will get the chance to meet some of the UK’s best local producers and vote for their favourites to be listed by Palmer and Harvey, the wholesaler.

In response to the growing popularity of locally produced food, drink and gifts, Pro-retail will bring together local suppliers from across the country to showcase their products.

From honey-makers in Berkshire to butchers in Lincolnshire, there will be a wide range of niche suppliers. Visitors to the show will vote for their favourites, who will then be listed by Palmer and Harvey, and retailers will have the opportunity to broker one-to-one exclusive deals with suppliers at the show.

Richard Hayhoe, marketing director at Palmer and Harvey said: “Consumers are increasingly looking for products made locally, with a story behind them and a strong heritage. This is something the multiples have really stepped up in the last few years, and so we’re giving independents the same opportunity their bigger competitors have. It’s a golden opportunity to cash in on this growing trend.

“Palmer and Harvey is uniquely positioned to bring together independent suppliers and independent retailers. We have the network, the flexibility and the supply chain to be able to act as a broker between small independent companies and help them both make more money in the process. We’re an independent too, as we’re owned by our staff, so it’s something we’re really passionate about.”

Palmer and Harvey is working with Quality From Small Producers (QSP) to source the producers from its network.

Pro-retail takes place on April 24-25 at the International Centre, Telford, Shropshire.
