Bestway Group has reshuffled its senior management team following the decision by Kaiser Yousaf to step down from his role as group trading director.
Yousaf started in Bestway in 1982, holding a variety of senior roles before taking on the role of group trading director in 2012. He will continue to be part of the Features > Business, but his health no longer makes it practical to continue his senior role on a full-time basis, the group said this week.
This week, Yousaf said he was proud of his contribution. “It has been an incredible time working at Bestway. I have been part of a team that has achieved great things collectively and I am proud to have played my part in making the company the largest independent wholesaler in theUK. I have had the best of times and I would like to thanks all our suppliers, customers and staff for their support over the years.”
Martin Race (pictured), currently operations director at Batleys will assume all responsibility for group trading and by July 1 David Gilroy will oversee all operations for both the Bestway and Batley businesses. Gilroy’s new title will be group operations director.
Younus Sheikh, managing director of Bestway said: “Kaiser has been a colleague and a friend for many years and has been instrumental in developing the Bestway Group’s business. He is well known and respected within our Features > Business, by suppliers and by the industry as a whole and his decision to step back due to health issues is something that we fully understand but accept with sadness.”
“However in Martin we have an extremely knowledgeable and highly capable individual who has led our Batleys business and has a wealth of experience both in the business and the industry. To be able to make such an appointment demonstrates the depth of first-class senior management we have within the Bestway Group. I am sure that his drive and straight-talking approach will be welcomed by both suppliers and the wider trade.”
