Identifying the areas the trade should focus on

David Glennon, retailer services manager for Nielsen, will provide insights into the way the current economic downturn has affected consumers shopping practices.

He will be analysing the information on how often consumers are shopping, and shopping trends for areas such as frozen products, values lines and premium, Other issues include whether environmental and ethical issues are losing ground, whether consumers are switching channels and the re-emergence of discounters.

He will then focus on how this is impacting the independent/convenience sector and what are the areas that should be focused on by cash and carries, suppliers and independent retailers in the current climate and year ahead.

David has been with Nielsen for eight years and before that he worked in sales and marketing roles with independents and wholesalers.
