Christmas cometh at Bidvest Foodservice

Bidvest Foodservice has unveiled its “Simply Christmas” 2015 product range – designed to suit various menus and budgets.

Including everything from traditional turkey to more exotic options such venison and  50 new products from canapés to buffet, starters, mains and desserts, Bidvest helps caterers to plan the right Christmas offer for their customer base, while at the same time tapping into latest trends.

Gail Bridgeman, campaign and activation manager at Bidvest Foodservice, told Wholesale News that they’d worked closely with the team of development chefs, including Ben Woodhouse and Shaun Hill, to create a comprehensive Christmas offer that this year also includes breakfast recipes such as Croquet Madame with pigs in blankets and smoked haddock bubble and squeak, to encourage customers to tap into the trend for all-day-dining over the festive period.

Many of the products offer British-sourced and Red Tractor ingredients and this years’ vegetarian and gluten-free options have been extended to help caterers meet special dietary requirements. Individual mince pies (which are gluten-free), pre-cut iced fruitcake and mini Christmas puddings have also been added to the range, enabling customers to offer a cake and a coffee at any time of day.

Bridgeman added: “Christmas planning starts early at Bidvest Foodservice and this year’s new products were selected in January, using feedback from customers about last year’s range and future trends. Our innovation team worked with suppliers to bring products into the range that meet different customer needs in both recognised branded products and products within our own brand range. Our development chefs cooked and tested each product to ensure they are of the highest quality too.

“This year we’ve really tried to focus on giving our customers something a little bit different that meets a consumer need or popular trend. For example, the pulled pork croquettes in our buffet range are on trend with Americana cuisine and are easy to eat as finger food, whilst the own brand Gingerbread Cheesecake mixes a variety of flavour profiles into one dessert, something that we found worked well last week, and offers customers an indulgent treat.”

Bidvest is now planning a number of Christmas exhibitions at depots across the country where customers can meet suppliers and try a selection of the new products before ordering them.
