Since its formation in 1985 The Authentic Food Company has developed into a leading supplier of international fine foods to the foodservice and convenience sectors, and now employs 230 people at its headquarters at Sharston in Manchester.
From the start the company has worked to build close relationships with its partners in the wholesale sector, and for more than 15 years it has been supplying a range of frozen Indian and Oriental foods to Windsor Foodservice.
Windsor Foodservice is a regional operator with a range of 2,000 chilled, frozen and ambient products. From depots at Barnsley and Castle Donnington it supplies food and drink to independent catering outlets in Yorkshire and the East Midlands. It offers 40 products from Authentic including Chicken Tikka Masala, Greek Style Parcels and Indian Snack Selection.
Like Authentic, Windsor has been growing its business and in March it opened a new pound;2m depot. It also added three new multi-temperature, 7.5 ton vehicles to its 17-strong fleet, and expanded its sales team with four new members.
To support Windsor, Authentic runs regular joint activities such as an annual curry night, which last year attracted 220 of Windsor’s customers. This year Authentic will also be holding a full product training evening for all staff, and in addition the two companies work closely to develop promotional packages during the course of the year for popular products such as onion bhajis.
