Booker chief executive Charles Wilson has become vice president of the industry owned food and grocery analyst and think-tank IGD.
The term is for two years, after which it is customary for the vice president to become the president, as has just happened with the previous vice president, Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King.
Wilson said: “This is the first time a wholesaler has been vice president. Usually a candidate is chosen from a manufacturer or major multiple.
“My appointment is good recognition for the importance of the wholesale trade and the thousands of independent retailers and caterers that we serve.”
