Foodservice delivery business Hopwells has ordered 10 Hubbard Alpha refrigeration systems from Hubbard Transport Refrigeration Solutions.
Hopwells is a growing independent foodservice delivery business from the Midlands and north of England. It has five depots from Liverpool to Birmingham with a customer base from Lancashire to Bristol. Its product range includes both chilled and frozen food; all of its 70-strong delivery fleet are multi-temperature vehicles.
Hubbard has made advances in the way on-board refrigeration units are designed and operate and has produced two new models. The 520 Alpha is for trucks up to 10 tonnes and the 720 Alpha is for larger trucks up to and in excess of 15 tonnes. Key design features include the slimline 20 Series evaporator and the efficiency of the refrigeration system driven direct from the truck engine. There is also an in-cab controller and temperature monitor. Hopwells group fleet manager David Williams said having been pleased with Hubbard in the past Hopwells was impressed with its innovations and the direct drive which allows the refrigeration system to be driven direct from the truck engine. It removes the need for an independent diesel system, cutting maintenance and running costs while reducing noise.
He said: “The controller allows the driver to keep a constant check on the temperature. That’s important both for us and our customers.”
