The Government’s small shops advisor Mary Portas will be returning to Palmer and Harvey’s Pro-retail trade show for the second year.
At the launch event for this year’s show, which will be the 30th anniversary for the event, it was announced that Portas will be sharing her secrets for small business success at a series of presentations during the two-day show.
At the launch event Palmer and Harvey also provided a preview of some of the new technologies and innovations in convenience retailing that will be brought to life in Pro-retail’s Futurezone.
People were given a chance to try out augmented reality app ‘Blippar’ which offers an enhanced shopping experience, Intel’s Facial Recognition Unit, which targets adverts to the viewer’s gender, age and other metrics, and i-movo’s digital voucher system.
A 25% bigger Pro-retail will also feature local suppliers, debate on the future of tobacco and forecourts, and a re-vamped Gala Night Dinner for 1,600 people.
Martyn Ward, commercial director at Palmer and Harvey, said: “Pro-retail brings together the entire independent retail convenience industry under one roof. It is important we make sure retailers leave the show armed with everything they need to future proof their business.”
Pro-retail takes place on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th April at the International Centre, Telford, Shropshire.
