Chef presented with pound;10,000

The winner of the Knorr National Chef of the Year competition was announced at the gala awards ceremony.

The prize went to Simon Hulstone, chef proprietor of The Elephant Restaurant in Torquay. Hulstone was awarded the main prize of pound;10,000 and a trip to the region of Pordenone, Italy.

Competitors were judged on technical skill, creativity, use and interpretation of ingredients, flavour and texture combinations and presentation style.
